The Marrisa’s Magic Foundation

Our mission is to provide the opportunity for children with diabetes to attend summer camp. We want families living with diabetes to know that they are not alone. Through donations and fund-raising we offer camperships to Rhode Island children with diabetes.

About Us

Marissa’s Magic Foundation is a tax-exempt organization formed by the family of Marissa Souza. Marissa is 13 years old and has been living with diabetes for ten years. We understand the challenges that come with diabetes; physically, emotionally, and financially. We want to alleviate some of these pressures, and let families living with diabetes know that they are not alone.

Kids with diabetes can’t go to most of the camps their friends attend. They need to go to a diabetes camp with nurses on staff to keep them safe. It is also important for them to meet other kids with diabetes who understand what they are going through.

We believe that Camp Surefire is a great place to show children with diabetes that they are not alone, that they can accomplish any task and have fun living life to its fullest. Camp Surefire also offers their parents peace of mind, knowing that their child is in a safe place.
